What you learn‰
Students explore core engineering and physics principles through a hands-on catapult system that brings force, motion, and design to life. By building, testing, and refining their own solutions, learners connect real data to math and science while thinking and working like engineers.

How it was made‰
How it was made‰
How LaunchPro Was Made
LaunchPro was designed and built using the same engineering and manufacturing processes found in real-world product development. From concept to classroom, every component was intentionally engineered to balance performance, safety, durability, and hands-on learning.
Engineered Through a Formal Design Process
LaunchPro began with clearly defined system requirements—including accuracy, repeatability, adjustability, durability, and safety. Engineers evaluated how tension, angle, and structure interact to control projectile motion, ensuring the final design supports consistent experimentation and data-driven learning.
Precision Fabrication
The majority of LaunchPro components are laser-cut from 1/8-inch plywood, allowing for high dimensional accuracy, repeatability, and clean assembly. Parts are designed with interlocking slots and dowel connections so they fit together precisely without adhesives, making the system durable and reusable in classroom environments.
Integrated 3D-Printed Components
Select components - such as knobs, launch arm baskets, angle pins, tension mechanisms, and safety features - are 3D printed to enable complex geometry and smooth mechanical operation. This manufacturing approach mirrors modern industry practices, where digital fabrication methods provide customization and optimal performance.
Built for Assembly, Disassembly, and Iteration
LaunchPro is intentionally designed to be assembled, disassembled, and reassembled multiple times without loss of integrity. This allows students to interact directly with the system, understand how each component functions, and experience how engineers iterate on designs.
Tested, Validated, and Refined
Before reaching students, LaunchPro undergoes testing and validation to ensure consistent performance, safe operation, and repeatable results. Data from test launches informs refinements, reinforcing the same iterative improvement cycle used in professional engineering and manufacturing environments. Catapult CDR
