Our Journey

Our Journey

2014

The Beginning

Treobytes was founded in 2014 in the home office of its founder, driven by a simple but powerful belief: every student deserves access to meaningful, future-ready STEM learning. What began as small, hands-on learning experiences quickly revealed a deeper gap between traditional education and the skills students needed to thrive in real-world careers.

2015–2016

Early Programs & Proof of Concept

Treobytes launched its first after-school and community-based STEM programs, focusing on hands-on learning, problem-solving, and real-world application. Early success confirmed that students—especially those from historically underserved communities—learn best when STEM is tangible, relevant, and connected to industry.

2017–2018

Expansion into Schools & Districts

Programs expanded into school partnerships across San Diego County. Treobytes began supporting teachers with curriculum, tools, and professional learning while refining its approach around competency, not just completion.

2019–2020

Curriculum Development & Product Innovation

With thousands of students served annually, Treobytes sharpened its focus on workforce readiness—introducing industry-based learning, technical vocabulary, and project presentations modeled after real engineering and tech environments. Programs increasingly emphasized persistence, iteration, and applied problem-solving.

2021–2022

Scaling Impact & Workforce Alignment

With thousands of students served annually, Treobytes sharpened its focus on workforce readiness—introducing industry-based learning, technical vocabulary, and project presentations modeled after real engineering and tech environments. Programs increasingly emphasized persistence, iteration, and applied problem-solving.

2023–2024

From Exposure to Pathways

Treobytes surpassed 40,000 students served across more than a decade of work. The organization expanded into structured pathways—after-school programs, summer enrichment camps, Scholars programs, and focus groups—bridging K–12 education with college and career trajectories in engineering, IT, computer science, and emerging technologies.
